Former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy could be on the verge of a sensational move to Galatasaray after reports surfaced that the Dutch stirker had struck a deal with the Turkish club. The Real Madrid hitman has suffered from a series of injuries since moving to the Bernabeu and could be one of a number of players sacrificed this summer as the club look to restructure their squad.
Milliyet claims that Haldun Ustunel, a director of Galatasaray, travelled to Holland and came to a verbal agreement with the player over the possibility of a move. The club are now expected to speak to the Madrid hierarchy as they attempt to further negotiations.
Much could depend on the plans of the new president this summer, with the favourite for the position, Florentino Perez, rumoured to be willing to sell the Dutch striker.
Van Nistelrooy currently has a deal with Madrid until 2010 but with compatriot Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, Gonzalo Higuain and Raul already in the side, he could find himself fighting for a place when he returns.
