Arsenal prepare £15 million Fulham raid
Arsenal are set to test Fulham’s resolve with a £15 million bid for their towering Norwegian Brede Hangeland.
According to reports in the Sun, Arsene Wenger has been offered the club’s ‘unequivocal’ support by chief executive Ivan Gazidis, following his brief flirtation with Florentino Perez and his Real Madrid ideals.
Wenger will test the club’s support with a bid of £15 million for player who cost Fulham jus £3.7 million 18 months ago.
The central defender has been in inspired form this year, and although manager Roy Hodgson is keen to hold on to the former FC Copenhagen star, should Arsenal offer anything close to the reputed £15 million, then a deal will be agreed.
Arsene Wenger has been strongly urged to recruit experienced players this summer, and the Arsenal defence will be his first port of call.
With the futures of Kolo Toure and William Gallas as yet uncertain, Wenger is desperate to bring in some much needed strength and aerial ability.
Contrary reports either see Wenger spending up to £50 million this summer, or as little as £15 million. Either way Wenger is expected to re-address the centre back positions for the North London club over the forthcoming weeks.
