Former Tottenham Hotspur, Rangers, Everton and Lazio midfielder Paul Gascoigne has admitted that his biggest regret in football was not joining Manchester United and working with Sir Alex Ferguson. The England legend also revealed he regrets leaving Tottenhman so early in his career.
Speaking in an interview with TalkSport Magazine Gazza said:
“I had the chance to play with Sir Alex Ferguson. That is something I regret. I don't know what my future would have been like, or how different my career would be, especially after football. I might even be there doing something in some capacity at the club.
“The players who went there have achieved so much, learn't so much, won medals, got paid well, and the discipline is fantastic. So yeah, it is one of my biggest regrets.
“Then again I loved my time at Tottenham Hotspur and I probably should never have left Tottenham at the time that I did. But it was my decision. Terry Venables gave me the opportunity to stay or go and I decided to go, it was a great chance to play abroad.”
