Sporting Lisbon midfielder Miguel Veloso appears to have carried out another of his trademark u-turns by claiming that he is now happy to stay in portugal. The dynamic enforcer has been repeatedly linked with several clubs in the last two years with Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City, Bolton Wanderers and Newcastle United all thought to be monitoring his progress.
The 22-year-old had stated in March that he ‘would like to leave’ the Jose Alvalade after receiving death threats in the post and having had bullying abuse daubed on the walls of Sporting’s training ground by fans angry with his foreign club flirtations.
However, despite the mid-season intimidation it now appears the international has changed is mind stating:
"I only think of Sporting. Even in one or two years from now that is not going to change," Veloso told the press in his homeland.
"This was not a good season because we wanted to be champions. We worked for it but we could not meet the goals set at the beginning of the campaign," he concluded.
