Chelsea heavyweights out muscle European rivals
Chelsea’s first team is taller and heavier than Arsenal, Manchester United and Barcelona.
The Daily Mail have taken an in-depth look at the physical attributes of the remaining sides left in this season’s Champions League, and found that Guus Hiddink’s side are packing more of a punch.
Chelsea are a stone heavier than next in the list Manchester United, with John Terry and the like weighing in at thirteen stone eight. Barcelona are the lightest, with diminutive Spaniards Xavi and Inestia et al tipping the scales a measly eleven stone eleven.
With Petr Cech and Michael Ballack in the ranks the West London club also look down on their bitter London rivals Arsenal, by three inches. Arsenal and Barcelona are five foot eleven inches, while United hover over them by an inch. Chelsea’s towering squad stand at six foot one suggesting their aerial prowess of Drogba, Terry and Branislav Ivanovic might just bare dividends in the second leg at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.
Perhaps a lasting sign of Jose Mourinho’s regime and the continued attention to detail of current incumbent Guus Hiddink, Chelsea have the edge at the tale of the tape, but will it be enough to push them one step further than last year?
