Benitez keen on Tevez
According to reports Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is eager to bring Manchester United’s Carlos Tevez to Anfield.
The popular Argentine, whose industry and heart has won over the Old Trafford faithful, is yet to be offered a new deal to keep him at United, and is resigned to leaving when his two year loan deal ends in July.
Reports in The Times suggest Benitez is keen to pair the diminutive former West Ham striker with Anfield favourite Fernando Torres.
Liverpool’s interest in the player is unlikely to enamour Benitez to Ferguson, as the pair continue to share the frostiest of relations. In 2007 Gabriel Heinze was refused the chance to sign for Liverpool, with Ferguson instead choosing to sell the defender to Real Madrid.
The Spanish giants are once again interested in an Old Trafford Argentine, and are said to be favourites to sign Tevez at the end of the season. Also monitoring the situation are Manchester City’s new owners, Inter Milan and Barcelona.
