Arsenal close in on Mouyokolo
Arsene Wenger is close to completing a £4 million deal for Boulogne defender Steven Mouyokolo. Reports in the French and English press suggest the French youngster was close to securing a move to Steve Bruce's Wigan until Wenger stepped in earlier this week.
The 21-year-old has performed well in France's Ligue 2 helping Boulogne to second in the table. The good form of Mouyokolo, originally of Congolese descent had alerted Newcastle, Wigan, Middlesbrough and Bolton.
According to reports, at the beginning of the week the young starlet had agreed on a move to Wigan, however hearing of the interest from Arsenal decided to wait until January before deciding on his future.
Wenger is rumoured to be considering defensive options in January with persistent rumours growing that William Gallas will leave the club. The gunners have been linked with Giorgio Chiellini, Phillipe Mexes, as well as a possible return earlier than expected for loanee Phillipe Senderos.
