Wenger wants record to be respected
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger reckons his team's Carling Cup record does not get the credit it warrants and has vowed to stick with youth for the trip to Burnley on Tuesday night. Arsenal have reached the final once, the semis three times and the quarter-finals twice in the last seven season and Wenger says his record commands respect. He told the official Arsenal website: "I believe that the club doesn't get enough credit for that record. We have always stayed faithful to our policy and we have always done well.
"I still believe it is very unfair that, even with the quality shown, when you get to the Quarter-Final, everybody wants you to kick [the youngsters] out for the experienced players."
And when the Arsenal boss was asked whether blooding youngsters towards the latter stages of the competition was dangerous, he replied: "It doesn't matter. For me, we know what we want from this competition and we stick to it.
"People say that we haven't won the trophy [but] we have done really well in this competition considering that we use the competition in an educational way."
