England's bowling troubles have taken a further turn for the worse after Durham seamer Graham Onions was ruled out of the first Test against Bangladesh that begins in Chittagong on Friday.
He has failed to shake off an ongoing back problem and 20-year-old Steven Finn could make his debut against the Test minnows.
Onions has not yet been ruled out of the second and final Test that starts in Dhaka on March 20 and Finn will be looking to feature.
With James Anderson and Ryan Sidebottom out injured and Stuart Broad also struggling with his fitness, captain Alastair Cook and team director Andy Flower have their selection problems.
Finn, who stands at 6ft 7ins, is expected to challenge for a starting berth alongside Liam Plunkett and Ajmal Shahzad.
Second spin option James Tredwell is also another option to come into the starting line-up and Finn, who impressed in the recent warm-up match against Bangladesh A, has also thrown his hat into the ring.
Speaking to reporters, Flower said: "I wouldn't rule Finn out.
"He's been added to the party and he's a contender for selection.
"He's bowled with pace on a slow pitch and bowled with accuracy; he's quite a good prospect."
