Manny Pacquiao made a powerful defence of his WBO welterweight title against Joshua Clottey, securing a unanimous points decision at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington.

Pacquiao, seen by most pundits as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, dominated throughout against Ghana's Joshua Clottey, who at least had the satisfaction of maintaining his record of having never been stopped.

Pacquiao was a 120-108 victor on one card, with the other two judges scoring the bout 119-109 in the Philippines fighter's favour.

However, Pacquiao felt that he had endured a tough night against a defensive-minded opponent.

He commented: "He's a very defensive fighter. I was looking for a strategy to beat that defence, like body shots, uppercuts. It worked.

"Clottey is not an easy opponent - he is very strong. He took a lot of punches and was never hurt."
