Amir Khan will defend his WBA light-welterweight title against Paulie Malignaggi in New York on May 15.
The Bolton fighter will be appearing in the United States for the first time and will be in action at Madison Square Garden, according to Golden Boy Promotions.
Khan won his world title in July 2009 and successfully defended it in a first-round knockout of Dmitriy Salita last December.
The 23-year-old was expected to take on Juan Manuel Marquez until the fight fell through.
New Yorker Malignaggi lost to Ricky Hatton in 2008 but has rebuilt his reputation following a recent victory over Juan Diaz.
Speaking last month when the fight was first mooted, Khan said: "I'm just going to go in there to do what I normally do and I really think Malignaggi has a style which is going to make me look good.
"He's not at my level. He has a few good wins in America, but it's another fight for me and I'll go there and do what I have to do."
