Lakers in control
The drama in L.A. continued on Sunday night in game two of the NBA Finals as the Los Angeles Lakers overcame the Orlando Magic 101-96 and took a 2-0 lead in the series. The Magic, comprehensively beaten in game 1, rallied to send Kobe Bryant's Lakers into overtime at the Staples Centre. Led by "superman" Dwight Howard, the Magic had the chance to win the game at the death only to see Courtney Lee's alley-oop attempt hit the rim of the basket.
This opened the door for the Lakers to scrape home leaving the Magic with it all to do in Orlando on Tuesday night.
Pau Gasol scored seven of his 24 points in overtime and Kobe Bryant added 29 for the Lakers, who became the fifth straight team to win the first two games of the series at home.
"We've just got to go home and take care of business," Howard said. "We've been in some tough situations. We've just got to fight our way out."
