Lisa Dobriskey has confirmed that she will defend her Commonwealth Games 1500m title in Delhi later this year.

The 26-year-old claimed gold in Melbourne four years ago and is already looking forward to running in India in October.

"To defend my title would mean a lot to me and the more racing experience I can get in championship events the better," she said. "Other than next year's World Championships, there are very few such opportunities between now and London 2012.

"As an athlete you don't get many chances to win medals at this level and that, after all, is what I train for.

"The 800 metres would represent a different challenge and would, of course, provide me with even more racing experience.

"It adds another string to my bow and, as there would be less expectation, I think I would really be able to go out and enjoy the event after the 1500."
