Team prinicipal Christian Horner expects Red Bull to be on F1 grid next season

Red Bull will be on the Formula One grid next season, team principal Christian Horner has confirmed.

The future of the Milton Keynes based team, who won four consecutive driver and team championships between 2010 and 2013, has been shrouded in uncertainty after it appeared they were pulling the plug on their engine deal with Renault.

Red Bull, who have not won a race since last year's Belgian Grand Prix in August, have been highly critical of the French manufacturer this season.

But after being snubbed by both Mercedes and Ferrari, it would seem Red Bull, despite their controversial owner Dietrich Mateschitz issuing a number of threats to pull out of the sport if they could not find a competitive engine, will honour the final year of their contract with Renault.

Speaking ahead of Sunday's season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Horner said: "We've entered the world championship, we've signed a contract for an engine, but I can't tell you what it'll be or called at the moment.

"We're announcing different partners - and we've some great partners to be announced in the week ahead - so yes we'll be there unless something extremely untoward happens."

Red Bull are expected to develop the engine with Renault's future in Formula One uncertain.

Renault have long been linked with a buy-out of cash-strapped Lotus, but a deal is yet to be ratified. Lotus meanwhile are due to appear in the High Court on December 7 over an unpaid tax bill.

Horner added: "It's an engine that will hopefully improve during the course of the year, so it's going to be a tough start to the season for us but we're confident we'll make strides."
