Marc Marquez emerged with victory from a chaotic San Marino MotoGP which saw two Britons also claim podium spots, Valentino Rossi come fifth and Jorge Lorenzo crash out.

In difficult, changing conditions at Misano, Spain's reigning champion Marquez (Honda) took his fourth win of the 2015 season and remains third in the overall standings.

His compatriot Lorenzo (Yamaha) had initially led Sunday's race but subsequently fell with seven laps to go.

He stays second overall on 224 points, with the gap to Marquez now 40 points and to leader Rossi (Yamaha) having grown from 12 to 23 - despite the Italian recording his lowest finish of the campaign from a race he too had led.

By contrast, Sunday saw first MotoGP podium places of the season for Bradley Smith (Yamaha) and ever for fellow British rider Scott Redding (Honda), second and third respectively.

Fourth place on the day went to Loris Baz (Forward Yamaha) of France.
