Hamilton joins the Ferrari club

Newly crowned three-time world champion Lewis Hamilton may be doing his day job in a Mercedes but when it comes to supercars in his garage at home he has a Ferrari. To be fair to Mercedes they don't produce cars like Ferrari, Lamborgini or Pagani.

Hamilton already has a collection of supercars to trump the majority of football stars. His Pagani Zonda was designed specifically for him with a 6-speed manual gearbox and 760bhp. Clearly even all that power is not enough for the F1 king who is used to the 750-850 bhp of his Mercedes F1 W05 Hybrid.

The 30-year-old has more recently joined the very small 500 unit owners club of LaFerrari. The extreme (789 bhp) performance Ferrari capable of an astonishing 217 mph making it the fastest road-legal Ferrari ever produced. LaFerrari is notably not styled by Pininfarina (The first since the Bertone-styled Dino 308 GT4 of 1973). The car takes technology developed by the F1 team such as the carbon fibre monocoque.

The rear-wheel drive 2-door berlinetta costs more that 1 million US dollars and is the first mild hybrid which makes it 40 percent more fuel efficient.

Fancy having a go in a single seater or spending a day enjoying an F1 driving experience? Look no further than Track Days. The perfect gift this Christmas.
