Frenchman Romain Grosjean was on Friday handed a punishment to remember when he was given a 20-place grid penalty for this weekend's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Grosjean, who this week confirmed he will stay with Lotus in 2015, was given the extraordinary sanction for exceeding the permitted number of power units by taking his sixth this season.

New rules introduced this season limit drivers to five engines, down from eight in 2013.
