Pedro Feliciano returns to New York Mets

Pedro Feliciano threw exactly zero pitches while under contract with the New York Yankees. But after two years of shoulder woes, the lefthander has returned to the Mets with a minor-league deal and an invitation to spring training.

Feliciano, 36, led the majors in appearances each year from 2008- 10 with the Mets.

The Yankees, seeking another lefty to throw at a lefty-heavy Boston lineup, gave him a two-year, $8-million deal despite a workload with the Mets that Yankees GM Brian Cashman called abusive after Feliciano went down in 2011.

Feliciano had major shoulder surgery in September 2011 and spent 2012 trying to work his way back. He joins a mix of lefties who will vie for a spot in the Mets' bullpen.

In eight big-league seasons, Feliciano is 22-19 with a 3.31 ERA, holding lefthanded hitters to a .214 average.
