England's Melissa Reid shot five birdies in her last six holes to end the second round of the Turkish Airlines Ladies Open with a three-stroke lead.
Reid, who led by one after her first-round 65, overcame a double bogey at the 13th - her fourth - to reach 12 under with a 69.
Scotland's Pamela Pretswell recorded an eight-under-par 65, the lowest round of her professional career, to stand alone in second on nine under.
It was not such a good day for Dame Laura Davies, who slipped from second place overnight into a 10-way tie for ninth with a 77.
France's Gwladys Nocera was third on eight under with another Scot, Carly Booth, two shots further back along with Australia's Rebecca Artis.
Reid, a former winner of the Turkish Open who is chasing a fifth victory on the Ladies European Tour, felt her early setback proved a blessing in disguise.
Reid said: "I just short-sided myself on the par-three 13th and I misjudged the chip, so I was a little bit frustrated, but at the same time it gave me a kick up the bum. I played okay.
"I tried to stay patient because I knew that there were birdie opportunities out there. I knew at the start of the day that I wanted to get to 12 under so that was my goal the whole day."
