World number seven Suzann Pettersen shot a two-under-par second-round 70 to take a two-stroke lead into the final round of the Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open.

The Norwegian was six under two thirds of the way through the 54-hole event at Dundonald Links, with England's Holly Clyburn second on four under after a superb five-under-par 67.

World number two Lydia Ko was also firmly in contention on three under while veteran Dame Laura Davies and France's Celine Herbin were tied fourth on two under.

The breezy conditions on the Ayrshire coast made scoring difficult at times and Pettersen was pleased with her performance.

Pettersen told ladieseuropeantour.com: "I'm pretty happy. It turned out to be a lot windier than we anticipated and the back nine is playing tough.

"It's tough to get great chances and the front nine is more scoreable. Once you get to 12, it's all into the wind, straight down and off the right, so it's tough but a good course with a lot of challenges. You've got to be on top of your game."

Pettersen began the second day tied for the lead with Ko but moved clear as the 18-year-old New Zealander bogeyed the 12th, 13th, 15th and 17th holes. Ko closed with a birdie to sign for a 73.

Clyburn made a charge up the leaderboard with a run of five birdies in nine holes either side of the turn.

The 24-year-old said: "It could have been even better as I missed a stupid two-footer for birdie on the 14th and coming in at seven, eight and nine I shaved the cup.

"I've played with Suzann earlier this season so I'll be comfortable in that leading group and I'm really looking forward to it."
