England made a perfect start to the UL International Crown in Chicago by winning both matches against the United States in Thursday's fourballs.

England top Pool B with four points after Holly Clyburn and Jodi Ewart Shadoff defeated Cristie Kerr and Lexi Thompson 2&1 and Charley Hull and Mel Reid beat Gerina Piller and Stacy Lewis by the same margin.

"Ever since we got here this week, the team has bonded really well," Shadoff told reporters at a press conference. "I knew that coming into it everyone was going to get on really well. Everyone is really laid back. You know, it helps.

"We were walking down the fairway right next to each other the whole time today.I think we're having a lot of fun out there, and it definitely helped."

Hull added: "I just love playing in this kind of environment, especially when you are a bit of an underdog."

Thailand are second in Pool B on three points after winning one and halving one of their matches against Japan.

Chinese Taipei won both games against Australia to set the pace in Pool A with four points, while Korea and China split their two matches to share second place with two points apiece.
