Former Arsenal hero and now co-presenter on The Betting Channel, Perry Groves gives us his top tip for the weekend.
The Big Match
Everyone and their dog is talking about the Arsenal v Manchester United game on Sunday. “Rooney can score his 100th league goal”; “Sol Campbell might start”; “Ferdinand’s banned”.
Of course, as a former Gunner I’m looking forward to seeing my old team take on the Champions and their record against United at the Emirates suggests the Arsenal are likely to get a result.
From a betting perspective, however, with Arsenal at a best priced 8/5 and United at 9/5, it’s simply too close to call and I won’t be going anywhere near this until the teams are named.
Tip of the Week
Instead, Al Bentley, my mate and presenter on The Betting Channel, has flagged a diamond of a bet and I had to get on it. Roy Keane will be going toe-to-toe with Darren Ferguson, son of his old boss Sir Alex, as Ipswich head up to play Preston at Deepdale, and at 2/1 look good value.
After a shaky start, the Tractor Boys have been pretty steady recently with a win over Coventry and a draw against West Brom. But more than that you can guarantee Keano would truly love to get one over on Fergie the Younger so expect him to go all out for the away win.
Perry’s Punt: Ipswich Town to beat Preston North End at 2/1
