Witsel to Old Trafford? Manchester United on alert as Belgian midfielder admits he's a Red Devil

Are you listening, Louis van Gaal? Midfielder Axel Witsel has today revealed his desire to play in the English top flight and has also paved the way for a potential move to Old Trafford claiming he's been a fan of the Red Devils since his youth.

Witsel, international team-mate of Adnan Januzaj and Marouane Fellaini currently plays in the Russian Premier League for Zenit St Petersburg under manager Andre Villas-Boas after moving from Portuguese giants Benfica in 2012.

The midfielder has today revealed that he'd like to play in the Premier League, praising it as 'one of the best league's in the world'. The 26-year-old discussed his support for Manchester United as a youngster which will be music to fans ears.

Axel Witsel, speaking to Bleacher Report about his national team's World Cup amongst other things: I want to play in one of the top clubs in Europe one day.

"It’s true that I like the Premier League, because it is one of the best league’s in the world, for me, together with Germany and Spain. It is a very good league, it is a crazy league.

"A lot of my colleagues play there, but we will see. I am still young, only 26. We'll see in the future. I have always liked Manchester United from when I was young."
