Wigan 0-0 Oldham: Match Report

No goals as Wigan and Oldham cancel each other out

Wigan and Oldham shared the spoils in a thoroughly drab goalless draw.

The match, the first to be played on the brand new playing surface at the DW Stadium, was a lacklustre affair from start to finish.

Wigan extended their unbeaten run to 10 matches but lost ground on leaders Burton as they drew a blank for the first time in two months.

Struggling Oldham would undoubtedly have settled for a point before the game but could have easily left with three after creating the better of the very few chances.

After Reece Wabara narrowly avoided heading into his own net, Jussi Jaaskelainen made three fine saves in the first half to deny Carl Winchester twice and Cameron Dummigan.

Wigan's best chance came in the second half but Will Grigg's low shot was brilliantly saved at his near post by Joel Coleman.

Grigg, with six goals in his last four starts, had another opportunity right at the death but his first-time volley, from substitute Craig Davies' smart lay-off, was well wide of the mark.
