Who will be next in charge at Crystal Palace?

Neil Warnock has become the first Premier League manager to lose his job this season after he was sacked by Crystal Palace today. His team were on a run of 1 win in 12 games and he leaves them in the relegation zone after yesterday’s 3-1 defeat by Southampton.

The question now on Palace fans lips is who will come in at Selhurst Park and can they turn around the clubs fortunes. I am going to take a look at the early contenders for the job.

1- Tim Sherwood - The early favourite for the job the 45 year old Englishman has been out of work since leaving Spurs at the end of last season and although Spurs let him go he did do a decent job there. This is however his only job he has had in football management so the jury is still out on him as a manager. The Palace job would certainly be putting him in at the deep end would he turn the sides fortunes around?

2- Tony Pulis - Surely the Welshman would not make a return to Palace after only leaving the club at the start of the season. He is a proven manager and he showed his credentials when leading Palace to safety in impressive fashion after coming in at Selhurst Park at a similar time last season. He would certainly be a popular choice but would he put the controversial summer exit and his problems with the board behind him and make a sensational return to Palace with his famous cap.

3- Keith Millen - The caretaker manager in Football always has a chance to stake his claim for the job and in this case the man in temporary charge is Keith Millen. This is his third time in temporary charge of the ‘Eagles’ and he will manage the team in the big bottom of the table clash against QPR on Sunday. He is certainly popular with the players but would he be the man to save them considering he has only had one permanent job in football I think he is more likely to remain at the club as part of the coaching staff.

4- Martin Jol - The experienced manager is another option for the London side to consider. He has a lot of experience in football and has managed teams like Tottenham and Fulham in the past and certainly has an impressive C.V in football. He is currently unemployed and he would be a sensible choice but would he lead them to safety after last year leaving relegated Fulham last season after a very poor start to the season?

5- Tony Popovic - The Australian is certainly familiar with Palace after making 123 appearances for them over 5 years. He is something of a outsider for the job the 41 year old has been managing Western Sydney Wanderers in the Australian A-League for over 2 years now and has won 2 coach of the year awards since being there and also won the A- League and the AFC Champions League while being there. He does look like a promising young manager but is it just too much of a risk for Palace to take at this moment in time as he is yet proven in European football management?

Who do Palace fans want in Charge? They need to make a choice quickly with the side currently struggling and the January transfer window quickly approaching a new permanent manager as soon as possible would surely be preferable.
