After Brendan Rodgers admitted today LFC were looking at doing 1-2 bits of business before the transfer window shuts, the question on the fans lips now is who could the last players be?
Could there be moves for former target such as Yevhen Konoplyanka or are the Reds looking at fresh names. In the last week alone I can think of at least six names to be linked with the club.
In my opinion the reds need to address two positions a secondary goalkeeper to challenge Simon Mignolet and a striker to play alongside or as backup to Daniel Sturridge.
The name that has been linked to Liverpool that makes sense is Argentina world cup hero Sergio Romero who spent last season on loan at French outfit AS Monaco.
Gazzetta.it is reporting Liverpool had made a 2m bid for the Sampdoria keeper.
Off the back of an impressive World Cup outing and at a relatively low cost, he would make sense given his age (27) and potential longevity as keepers can go on for years (ask Brad Friedel).
The second player and obviously harder to pick out is the striker.
Over the window the Reds came close to signing Loic Remy from QPR and since that they've been linked with pretty much every striker in the world.
The name the fans seem to be clamouring for is Marco Reus, which if it happened would be an incredible signing for Liverpool.
Out of the Striking options available makes the most sense given age, price, ability and the fact he’s Champions League proven.
Liverpool would have to fork out £30m plus to sign the German although there are reports stating he has a lower buyout clause that originally believed.
But as Brendan Rodgers said today in the pre Southampton press conference:
"We'll aim to do that [add a striker] right until the end,"
"The money is there, but it's not as if there's panic to buy.
"It is something we will look to complete before the end of the window, but if we do not add upfront, it means the right player did not become available to us."
