West Brom handed a start to B#10million record signing Brown Ideye as the struggling Baggies looked for firepower against Aston Villa.
The striker has failed to score in the Barclays Premier League since a summer move from Dynamo Kiev but Alan Irvine put his faith in the Nigeria international to ease the pressure on him.
He replaced Victor Anichebe, out with a groin problem, while Silvestre Varela started with Youssouf Mulumbu dropped and Saido Berahino again left on the bench.
Kieran Richardson replaced Ashley Westwood, sidelined until next year with a knee injury, in Villa's only change from their 2-1 win over Leicester.
But they were given a boost with skipper Ron Vlaar and midfielder Fabian Delph on the bench after their respective thigh and shoulder injuries.
