Wenger on Ramsey and Fabregas

Arsene Wenger was recently asked about Cesc Fabregas and why he chose not to exercise a first option to buy on Cesc Fabregas. Cesc made an impressive Chelsea debut against Burnley contributing with an assist as Chelsea eventually ran out 3-1 winners.

Wenger clearly has no regrets about his decision not to buy Fabregas for a second time. The arrival of Ramsey on the scene as a genuinely world class player makes this decision a fairly straightforward one for Mr Wenger.

Ahead of the Gunners match with Everton Wenger said “I have no regret about that at all. My regret is that he left. It was difficult for him to leave us, but after that you can accept he can move to some other club.” He added “Aaron Ramsey has a different style to Fabregas. He has developed into a player with huge potential and I think there is more coming out of Aaron Ramsey in the future.”

As much as Arsenal fans love Fabregas there is some bitterness around his last 18 months at the Emirates. Cesc did not exactly hide the fact that he wanted a move to the Nou Camp and this reflected in his performances. His last season and a half at the Emirates were a very unhappy time for the Spaniard and his poor form went a long way to contributing to Arsenal’s failure to win silverware when in fact the Spaniard should have been setting the right example.

Wenger’s faith in Ramsey is huge and even without the majestic Spaniard Arsenal will be a force to reckon with this season.
