Wales to face Sweden in June friendly

Wales will travel to Sweden for their final pre-Euro 2016 friendly before heading to France.

The game will take place at Stockholm's 50,000-capacity Friends Arena on Sunday, June 5 - six days before Wales start their European Championship campaign against Slovakia in Bordeaux.

It will pit together two of the greatest names in world football in the shape of Sweden striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Wales forward Gareth Bale.

The game was confirmed on the Swedish Football Association website with Lars Richt, head of national teams, saying: "This will make it possible for families to experience the Swedish national team just before we travel to the European Championship in France."

Sweden are in the same group as Belgium, Italy and the Republic of Ireland at Euro 2016.

Wales are expected to head straight to their Brittany base after the Stockholm friendly and will line up against Slovakia, England and Russia in Group B.

Chris Coleman's side have already arranged March friendlies against fellow Euro 2016 finalists Northern Ireland, at home, and Ukraine away ahead of their first major tournament for 58 years.

Wales have lost their last five games against Sweden since the first meeting between the two nations, a goalless draw at the 1958 World Cup which the Swedes hosted.

The two countries last met in Swansea in March 2010 when former Bolton and Norwich striker Johan Elmander scored the only goal.
