France defender Raphael Varane has signed a new contract with Real Madrid, keeping him with the European champions until June 2020, the club announced on Thursday.
Varane, 21, has made 74 appearances for Madrid since moving to the Spanish capital from Lens in the summer of 2011, although he has featured only sparingly in the opening weeks of this season.
The centre-back has been capped 13 times by France, featuring in their run to the quarter-finals of this year's World Cup in Brazil, where they lost 1-0 against eventual champions Germany.
