United chief Woodward to Fly to Spain for Di Maria Talks

Manchester United are set to enter talks with Real Madrid regarding the possible signing of Angel Di Maria, according to an anonymous, yet trustworthy source on Twitter.

The transfer news source, Agent Edward, is an anonymous “football agent with many contacts throughout Europe” and has already revealed the news of done transfer deals this summer, way before the press has got its hands on the stories.

If Di Maria makes the switch to Old Trafford it will be Manchester United’s third signing this summer alongside youngsters Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera, who will strengthen the long term complexion of the squad.

However, the signing of Di Maria – a seasoned Champions League performer – would propel United’s title challenge next season. The Argentinean has scored 22 times in 124 league appearances for Real Madrid and has been employed on the wing for the most part of his four years at the Bernabeau – a position no Manchester United player has assumed since gradual retirement of Ryan Giggs.

Di Maria made the switch from Benfica to Real Madrid back in the summer of 2010 for a fee in the region of £25m, yet a move to Manchester could see this fee double given the winger’s impressive performances in Spain.

Then again, it was rumoured prior to the departure of David Moyes that the United board had a £150m budget for a summer squad reformation. And with the current £55m spent on Shaw and Herrera leaving £95m in the piggy bank, more marquee signings appear imminent.

Whether this rumour will develop into an eventuality will be interesting to see; I’m sure Agent Edward will update us with the latest on the matter.
