It seems that David de Gea has finally made a decision on his future and informed United staff that he intends to accept an offer from Real Madrid to join them in the summer according to a report in the Daily Mail.

The report states that Real Madrid are confident that David De Gea will be a Real Madrid player come the summer. The President Florentino Perez is sure the player will leave the Old Trafford club for around £25million continues the column.

The situation has been a sensitive one with former coaches and friends being asked not to comment on the matter and even the player himself responded to Spanish press questions regarding his future by saying “We will see what happens”.

Despite a state having been reached which according to the Daily Mail suggests the player isn’t expected to return in the summer it seems that United have not given up their attempts to keep the player at Old Trafford. United intend to make him the richest keeper in the world with a £200,000-a-week contract offer understood to be significantly more than that offered by Real Madrid.

The player has been torn between repaying the faith shown in him from Manchester United were he has developed into a truly world class keeper and effectively returning home where his girlfriend lives and where he can more effectively establish himself as Spanish No 1.

The goalkeeper joined Manchester United in 2011 and has gone on to make 175 appearances for the Red Devils in his four seasons at Old Trafford. De Gea has won the Premier League title and two FA Community Shields at Manchester United since arriving from Atletico Madrid.
