Ten-man Wycombe hold on

Wycombe's 10 men held on for a 2-1 win at Tranmere as Paul Hayes and Fred Onyedinma scored either side of Jordan Hugill's equaliser.

Wycombe's Sam Saunders saw an early volley fly over the crossbar before Wanderers got a helping hand.

Tranmere's Harrison McGahey was ruled to have handled the ball inside the area, allowing Hayes to fire home from the penalty spot after 26 minutes.

Hugill responded for Rovers by heading the ball past Wycombe goalkeeper Matt Ingram at the other end six minutes later.

Tranmere midfielder Max Power then went inches wide from the edge of the Wycombe penalty area.

But a neat through-ball saw Onyedinma slot the Chairboys back in front five minutes before the break.

Joe Jacobson drilled a set-piece inches over the frame of the Tranmere goal on the hour-mark before Wycombe replacement Matt McClure saw red nine minutes later for a challenge on Adam Dugdale - just seconds after being introduced off the bench.

Tranmere goalkeeper Owain Fon Williams parried another Jacobson strike and Ingram saved well from Lee Molyneux before visiting defender Jacobson headed the ball off his goalline from Dugdale late on.
