The issue with building a new stadium where the old one is positioned leads to a troublesome question – Where will we play in the mean time? Spurs have now reluctantly accepted that they will have to play their home games in an alternative stadium for a minimum of one season.
Spurs hope to be in their new £400 million, 56,000-seat stadium in time for the start of the 2017-18 campaign. The future does look bright for the North-London club with this brand new stadium statement, but the short term options of where they can play are limited.
Recent alternatives have included Ipswich’s Portman Road ground and The Amex, home of Brighton to be possibilities on the list. The previous prospect of Spurs being able to use Wembley seem to have deteriorated, as the Tottenham faithful face a stern test to be able to see their club in the meantime.
Negotiations are at an early stage as there are many hurdles to clear, but only time will tell where Spurs’ inevitable temporary home ground will be.
