Tottenham looking to sapling to replace old oak

Tottenham Hotspur will this week offer Nottingham Forest around £5 million for young defender Jamaal Lascelles, writes The Mail online.

Tottenham are in the market for defensive cover and the 20 year old would be seen as the ideal long term replacement for the seemingly outgoing Michael Dawson.

The promising England youth International earned rave reviews for Forest last season consistently performing in his 27 league appearances.

The move for Lascelles would be looked on by Dawson with a degree of nostalgia with Dawson himself travelling from Nottingham to London at a similar age. If Tottenham can get the same level of service out of Lacelles as they have Dawson over the years then the proposed price tag would be money very much well spent.

Lacelles seems to fit in with other proposed targets of Pochettino with Tottenham still hoping to conclude a deal for Swansea defender Ben Davies in the coming days.
