Another season of promise awaits for Arsenal fans this coming campaign - and with the Gunners seemingly in a stronger financial position than ever it is time to assess the potential arrivals at the Emirates this summer, as Arsene Wenger finally looks to mount a serious title challenge and end the soon to be nine year trophy drought.
Gonzalo Higuain – Real Madrid - £25million
In what could turn out to be the longest transfer saga of the summer, Arsenal's affinity with the Real Madrid forward appears to have been going cold in recent weeks, with their apparent interest of Liverpool forward, Luis Suarez, stealing all the headlines.
However, Higuain remains the cheaper option over the Uruguayan and could arrive for just £25million.
At just the age of 25, Higuain has 122 goals in 266 appearances for Los Blancos – in a span of 7 years.
Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez has dismissed speculation of Higuain to Arsenal, claiming the club are 'keen' to keep the Argentine.
Regardless of the Spaniard's words, if Arsenal can claim the signature of Higuain, it'll be just the ideal marquee signing they need in their journey to return to the summit of English football.
Marouane Fellaini – Everton - £22million
Goal announced at the beginning of June that Arsenal had activated the release clause of Everton and Belgium midfielder, Marouane Fellaini.
Goal report that Fellaini's buy-out clause for a top-four club is £22million, and £24million for a club that finishes outside the Champions League places.
Fellaini had been linked with Manchester United and Chelsea in the past, but now appears to be high on Arsenal's agenda.
Marouane Fellaini would bring in a physical presence to the Arsenal midfield, and has similar traits to former Arsenal captain, Patrick Vieira.
Bar the leadership qualities, the Belgian is a strong, tall, powerful box to box type midfielder, who excels in the centre of the park.
With the creative duo of Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla, Fellaini would be able to sit in front and shield the back four – providing an extra layer of defence for the Arsenal rearguard.
Luis Suarez – Liverpool - £40-£50million
Arsenal shocked the footballing world with a £35million bid for Liverpool's Luis Suarez earlier this week.
Arsene Wenger see's the Uruguayan as an upgrade over Higuain, and would therefore be willing to bid in the excess of £40million.
Signing a player of Suarez's calibre, however unlikely it may seem, would send a huge message of intent to Arsenal's rivals.
Although Suarez is reportedly keen to get away from the English media, the 26 year old was 'flattered' by the London club's interest and a move could in fact materialize.
Arsene Wenger continues to build a squad capable of earning Champions League football. The Frenchman will know he must build on his current crop of stars if he is to win their first trophy since 2005.
With the London club rumoured to be in a fantastic financial position, Wenger will be looking to lure the world's top footballing talents to the Emirates Stadium.
