Roy Hodgson labelled England's 3-2 comeback victory over Germany as his best moment as manager of the national team. The former Fulham boss endured a dismal World Cup campaign in Brazil two years ago where England failed to progress from the group stage. This has meant expectations are extremely low for Euro 2016 in France.
The Football Association have hinted that Hodgson will be relieved of his duties should England endure another poor international showing. The 68-year-old's contract expires after the tournament's completion and knows his job will be on the line this summer.
We assess the potential replacements who the FA could turn to should Hodgson leave his post.
Brendan Rodgers
Former Liverpool boss, Brendan Rodgers, has emerged as the favourite for the role if Hodgson does not extend his current deal. The Northern Irishman has been out of work since his Liverpool sacking and insists he is waiting for the right club to come along. Reports suggest that Swansea will offer the 43- year-old the manager’s job in the summer which could prove an attractive proposition for the Ulsterman.
However, the England job will also be an enticing option for the tactician. Odds have been slashed on Rodgers taking the reins yet his managerial abilities have been questioned. A successful seasons with the Swans landed Rodgers the Liverpool job. He almost lifted the Premier League title with the Reds but much of his good work has been accredited to the magic of Luis Suarez.
His final seasons at Anfield were massively disappointing. He failed to replace Suarez and was sacked early in the season and replaced by Jurgen Klopp. However, Rodgers gave youth a chance during his time on Merseyside meaning England's youthful squad containing the likes of Dele Alli and Eric Dier could appeal to him. However, his break-down in relationship with Raheem Sterling could be a stumbling block.

Gary Neville
Gary Neville was relieved of his duties at Valencia following a hugely unsuccessful first managerial role. The former Manchester United defender managed just three league victories in Spain leading to questions regarding his readiness for management after building a reputation as a top quality analyst on Sky Sports.
The Valencia job was an extremely difficult role for the Englishman; especially for a first job. Neville remains a part of the England setup and Hodgson admitted that Neville would be perfect for the job in future. However, his troubles in Spain have cast doubt over his abilities as a manager.
Neville now has a lot of choices to make. It is believed that Sky will offer Neville the chance to return as a pundit and continue his good on Monday Night Football. Neville may not be willing to return to punditry just yet if the right club is available. However, the pain he has felt in Valencia may have left a sour taste in his mouth meaning he holds off on a return to management for now.

Alan Pardew
"It's the England job. If you're English and don't want it, there must be something wrong with you," Crystal Palace manager, Alan Pardew, explained to the press in October after being heavily linked with the role. Pardew completed transformed Palace when he arrived at Selhurst Park but has been unable to replicate their early season form in the closing weeks of the season.
The former Newcastle manager has been openly honest with his opinions regarding managing England. He and many others believe that the job should be given on a tournament-to-tournament basis and has admitted that a top-four club or the national is a long-term goal of his.
Many people believe that the national team should be managed by someone of the same nationality and there aren't many better English managers than Pardew. Even Carlo Ancelotti has endorsed the 54- year-old for the role.

Eddie Howe
38-year-old, Eddie Howe, is one of the youngest managers in the Premier League and has earned plenty of plaudits during his time with Bournemouth. Howe has steered the Cherries through their most successful period and looks set to keep his side in the Premier League in their first season.
Howe's concept of football is developed deep into psychology and the manager swears by his complex methods. Bournemouth have played entertaining football this season despite having a number of key players such as Callum Wilson, out injured.
If Howe's managerial success continues, the England job could be the next step on the ladder. Howe admitted earlier in the season that he was flattered by talk of the England role in the future. He admitted he was very patriotic and managing his country would be the ultimate hour. Although, he may not be ready for the job at this moment in time, the England job seems to be waiting in the wings for Howe.

Gareth Southgate
Another option for the top job is England U21 manager, Gareth Southgate. Despite a ropey spell with Middlesbrough, Southgate has been admired by the FA for his work in his England role. He guided his side to the U21 European Championship finals. However, he was unable to lead his side from the group stage.
Nevertheless, Southgate could become a frontrunner for the role if other managers continue to rule themselves out of the running. Making the step to the senior team could be the next logical step for the 45-year-old.

Jose Mourinho - Unlikely to choose international management as his next position. Odds on favourite to become the next Manchester United manager (14/1)
Mauricio Pochettino - Earned plenty of praise for his stunning season with Tottenham. Will not take the England job and will focus on Tottenham's return to the Champions League. (10/1)
Arsene Wenger - Doubt surround the Frenchman's future at Arsenal following another title collapse. A dream appointment but highly unlikely. (25/1)
David Moyes - Would England fans be happy with the appointment of a Scottish national? Moyes seems destined for a return to club management possibly with Aston Villa.
Gary Monk - A solid first season with Swansea landed Monk the permanent role. Was sacked earlier in the season following a poor run of results but could feel hard done by.
