The contenders to replace Steve McClaren at Derby

Steve McClaren has been sacked by Derby for a second time in less than two years. Here Press Association Sport looks at the candidates to replace him.

Gary Rowett

The former Burton and Birmingham boss is reportedly a contender to fulfil the managerial vacancy at Norwich. But the lure of managing a team he once played for more than 100 times may prove stronger.

Alan Pardew

The ex-Newcastle and Crystal Palace boss has an established reputation for achieving promotion. Whether he would accept chairman Mel Morris' opinions on the first team is doubtful.

Roy Hodgson

Should Derby seek another former England manager, Hodgson is available. He worked well at West Brom and Fulham on smaller budgets and would be eager to rebuild his reputation.

Mark Warburton

As Rangers boss, Warburton impressed in challenging circumstances. He has Championship experience with Brentford and would be keen to mould a team for a Premier League promotion bid.

Claudio Ranieri

The Italian performed a footballing miracle at Leicester before it all unravelled. He is on the bookmakers' shortlist for Derby, but may be a left-field option.

Garry Monk

The Leeds boss is out of contract this summer and an approach from Derby could test both sides' commitment. Did well at Swansea and has done so at Leeds, too.
