Teenage striker Solanke debuts for Chelsea

Maribor were trashed at Stamford Bridge yesterday, as Jasmin Handanovic, Samir's older brother, had to take the ball out of the net for six times.

Surprisingly, this was their first defeat in the debut Champions League season. The Slovenians have drawn twice, to Schalke and Sporting Lisbon. Mourinho's team was a bit too much for the inexperienced setup led by the Brazilian forward Marcos Tavares.

For Loic Remy, this was only the third start in the blue jersey. It was him who opened the scoring in the 13th minute. He was forced out of the game three minutes later, due to a minor injury. Didier Drogba entered the field and got fans screaming with a penalty goal in the middle of first half.

John Terry made it three before the break. Later on, Mitja Viler, the unlucky Maribor defender, scored an own goal in the 54th minute. The only real chance for the Violets came from the second penalty of the clash. Agim Ibraimi, the Macedonian international, was so close, but yet so far when he had hit the goalpost.

In the 73rd minute, Dominic Solanke replaced Oscar on the field and went on making a debut for the senior team. The Reading-born wonderkid impressed many in the UEFA Youth League, with two goals and two assists in the same number of matches.

This 17-year-old is able to play on various positions - as a striker and on both wings. England U18 manager Neil Dewsnip enjoys watching the goalscoring skills of the youngster who joined Chelsea in 2004.

Eden Hazard scored the remaining two, one from 11 metres and the other to an assist by Nathan Ake, one more kid in the Chelsea squad.

Afterwards, the débutante was left speechless for the opportunity and received lots of congratulating tweets.
