Congratulations to Tammy Abraham who won a tough battle in the vote to become the EFL Championship PFA Fans' Player of the Month for August and September, beating Newcastle playmaker Jonjo Shelvey across the line in the final hour of voting.

The teen sensation joined Bristol City on a season long loan from Chelsea and has impressed since his first appearance against Wigan. Ultimately Abraham's seven goals to Shelvey's three appears to have swung the neutral voters and earned him the PFA Championship fan award.

The 18-year-old forward has demonstrated his Premier League class, scoring an astonishing seven goals in nine games including a goal on his debut to secure a come-from-behind win against Wigan.

Bristol City are now well placed in 5th and will be grateful that no return clause was placed on his loan contract.

Tammy Abraham represents England at U19 level and remains eligible to play for Nigeria through his father.

A player set for a bright future if he continues to impress and a worthy winner in the PFA Fan award.

Jonjo Shelvey may have swapped the Premier League for the Championship but playing in the second tier of English football has if anything given him more hunger and desire to get Newcastle and himself back into the top flight.

Often critical of his own performances, the Romford-born playmaker who has played for Liverpool and Swansea has been at the heart of Newcastle United's fight for promotion at the first attempt.

A string of good performances has seen him nominated for this Fans' player of the month award and it was a close battle with Tammy Abraham until the final minutes of voting.

Jonjo has netted three times in three games for Newcastle United and scored a brilliant curling effort as part of a brace against Queens Park Rangers.

Rafa Benitez believes the player could even force his way back into England reckoning:

“If he can keep his consistency now, if he can keep working as hard as he was working and playing at the level he has been playing, then why not?”

The 24-year-old began his career at the then Championship side Charlton Athletic before moving to the Premier League in 2010 with Liverpool.
