Swindon add to Crewe's misery

A goal in each half from Yaser Kasim and Andy Williams handed Swindon Town a 2-0 victory and ensured Crewe Alexandra's losing start to the season continued.

Billy Waters tripped Louis Thompson outside the area in the 34th minute and Kasim curled a tremendous free-kick into the top left corner to give the hosts the lead.

But Swindon could have already been ahead by three, had it not been for Crewe goalkeeper Ben Garratt.

Both Kasim and Thompson were denied one-on-one, before Garratt pushed away a fierce drive from Brad Smith inside the penalty area.

Kasim's strike meant Swindon had something to show for their dominance at half time.

Ten minutes after the break, Michael Smith headed a delivery against the underside of the crossbar from inside six yards.

Swindon continued to hunt for a goal to enforce their advantage.

Garratt tipped another Kasim free kick over the crossbar on 70 before Swindon sealed the three points seven minutes later, Williams firing in low from the edge of the area.
