Boro bare at back

Stevenage have problems in defence ahead of the visit of Bristol City.

Boro, who have failed to win any of their last nine matches, will be condemned to relegation if they lose.

But they may have to do without skipper Jon Ashton after he limped off during Friday's 1-0 defeat at Sheffield United to join fellow defenders Tom Flanagan and Bira Dembele in the treatment room.

Striker Darius Charles, who can also play at the back, is struggling with an ankle problem, while midfielders Roarie Deacon and Dean Parrett are long-term absentees and winger Filipe Morais is suspended.

City will monitor Joe Bryan ahead of the trip to the bottom club.

Bryan has been struggling with a knee injury and it remains to be seen whether he will be fit for Monday's match. Marvin Elliott and Aden Flint definitely miss out and they will not play again this season because of their injuries.

Frank Fielding's bicep muscle is still causing him grief so on-loan Cardiff goalkeeper Simon Moore will continue between the posts. Although Moore's inclusion means one of City's six loan players will have to miss out as Football League rules only allow five in the matchday squad.

Steve Cotterill's side guaranteed their League One status on Friday with a 2-1 home win over Notts County.
