Southampton are desperate to get Sadio Mane to pen a new deal as the club prepare for bids, with Chelsea and Manchester United interested, according to reports.

Mane, 23, has made 17 appearances this season and has scored six goals. He was apparently high up on Manchester United’s wish list in the summer and the Reds devils were report willing to pay up to £20 million.

Now Chelsea are have also joined the race to sign the Senegalese forward as Jose Mourinho looks to improve his striking options. Radamel Falcao currently faces an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge with some news outlets claiming that he will have his loan terminated in January.

Diego Costa has found it hard to recapture his goal scoring form from last season, going on a six game drought which was ended on Saturday against Norwich.

Mane joined for £11.8m from Red Bull Salzburg last year and currently has three years left on his four-year deal. Southampton are willing to offer Mane an improved contract in order to keep him at St. Mary’s.
