Higdon hoping for Blades chance

Michael Higdon will be pressing for a first Sheffield United start in seven matches when the Blades host Barnsley in League One following his Capital One Cup heroics.

The striker missed three of those games after being sent off at Chesterfield but bagged both goals in Tuesday's 2-1 win at MK Dons after coming off the bench.

Higdon told Blades Player: "It's been an indifferent season but that's five goals in 12 games now and there's still a lot more to come - I want to be out there playing."

Nigel Clough made a number of changes in midweek but will again shuffle his pack now returning to league action.

Barnsley boss Danny Wilson has no injury concerns ahead of Saturday's short League One trip to Sheffield United, with everybody "up and running".

Dale Jennings appeared late on in last week's 2-2 draw with leaders Bristol City after almost a month out with an ankle problem and could now push for a starting place.

Top scorer Conor Hourihane and defender Martin Cranie avoided picking up a fifth booking of the season in that clash so are also free to feature at Bramall Lane.

Wilson, who used to manage the Blades said of the clash: "It's one that everybody has been looking forward to for a while - when you look at your fixture list, the derby games are always special."
