Sean Dyche expects Burnley to maintain standards against Accrington

Burnley boss Sean Dyche has no fears his players will struggle to find motivation for Wednesday's EFL Cup clash with Accrington following their surprise victory against Liverpool.

The Clarets are following up their 2-0 win over Jurgen Klopp's men at Turf Moor on Saturday with the short trip to the Wham Stadium for their second-round tie.

But Dyche will not accept his players falling below their usual standards and, while he admitted he will make some changes, the 45-year-old will be sending out a team he expects to win.

At his pre-match press conference, Dyche said: " They'll have enjoyed Saturday night and Sunday but (the winning feeling) goes away quickly. There's a professional atmosphere around the group. We won't get carried away with it. We've got to get on with the next game.

"There's a possibility of changes. We wanted to make sure everyone was fit and well, which they are, but because we have a deeper squad than we've had historically - and there are some really good players in the squad and we're still looking to add to that of course - there's likely to be some changes.

"But we still need to get the changes right in order to win. We're certainly not taking this game lightly. I know (Accrington boss) John Coleman. I think he's done a fantastic job.

"It's a local game, a derby of sorts in the cup albeit. We've got to take all that into consideration and make sure our team are capable of winning."

The only absentee for Burnley is striker Ashley Barnes, who Dyche confirmed had returned to training after a hamstring injury but is not yet ready to play.

Andre Gray could feature despite the striker being charged by the Football Association for the homophobic tweets he sent in 2012 which were shared across social media over the weekend after he scored his first Premier League goal.

Dyche had said in his press conference - before the charge was announced - he felt the incident had been cleared up.

He said: " We spoke on Saturday evening and he made it clear to me what he wanted to do and how he wanted to conduct his statement; it was authentic to him and very clear."

Gray has until 6pm on Wednesday 31 August 2016 to respond to the charge.
