Leaders Aberdeen suffered a setback in their hunt for a first league title in over 20 years as they were thrashed 5-1 at home by St Johnstone in the Ladbrokes Premiership.

The visitors scored twice in the opening 10 minutes, with Brian Easton and Joe Shaughnessy finding the back of the net, before Ash Taylor pulled one back.

Liam Craig struck before the break, before a quick-fire double from Steven MacLean secured a convincing win over the Dons, who could have gone seven points clear of Celtic.

Partick Thistle claimed their first win of the season, leapfrogging opponents Dundee United in the table after the 3-0 win.

David Amoo headed Partick in front after 15 minutes, before Mustapha Dumbuya and Stuart Bannigan extended the lead in the second period.

Hearts were held 1-1 by Kilmarnock, with Conrad Balatoni's strike cancelled out by Jamie Walker's first-half penalty.

Dundee beat Motherwell 2-1 thanks to goals from Rory Loy and Kevin Holt, although Stephen Pearson pulled a late goal back to make for a nervy finish which Paul Hartley's men saw out.

Inverness won a second game on the bounce thanks to Miles Storey and James Vincent finding the back of the net against Ross County, for whom Liam Boyce headed in a late consolation as they went down 2-1.
