Louis van Gaal's Manchester United are all but set to sign Bayern Munich and Germany midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger for a fee of 14million Euros, according to reporter Guillem Balague today.

The Red Devils have long been linked with the World Cup winner – Bastian Schweinsteiger – and now look set to finally get their man with reports suggesting that United have agreed a 14million Euro deal to bring the 30-year-old from Germany to England.

Schweinsteiger is exactly the type of dominating midfielder van Gaal is looking for as he aims to better 'balance' his inconsistent side. The German international fits the right-footed No.6 profile that Dutchman van Gaal is determined to stick to.

The six-foot midfielder made his debut for Munich in 2002 and has been integral to the teams success ever since. However, for one reason or another the player has found himself playing a less influential role at the club this season, leading many to believe that the time may be right for Schweinsteiger to move on.
