Reckord reckons County will survive

Ross County have won just three games all season but defender Jamie Reckord reckons the Staggies are too good to be relegated.

The Highland outfit finally climbed off the bottom of the Scottish Premiership after Tony Dingwall's late equaliser earned them a 2-2 draw at Motherwell last weekend.

But they remain in a three-way fight for survival with the Steelmen and St Mirren.

As things stand, County are bound for a relegation play-off decider with one of the Championship promotion hopefuls but Reckord believes his team will be home and dry come the end of the campaign.

Speaking ahead of Saturday's visit of Hamilton, the former Swindon full-back said: "I don't think anyone is panicking or worrying about what is going to happen. I think we will be safe come the end of the season. We've got a good enough team.

"We have been putting good enough performances in but sometimes when you are at the bottom of the table the luck just does not go your way.

"I just think that turning point was Motherwell and that our luck will change after that."

County sacked Derek Adams early on in the season and replaced him with Jim McIntyre.

The former Dunfermline and Queen of the South boss has masterminded some gradual improvements but Reckord hopes they will be in full swing soon just as Saints and Motherwell - who have also both changed their bosses in recent weeks - start to find their feet.

"The other teams around us have changed their managers while our gaffer has been in a while now," he said.

"But we shouldn't have to worry about other teams, we just need to concentrate on ourselves."

Liam Boyce will still be suspended after his red card against Dundee United.

Slovakian playmaker Filip Kiss was left on the bench for the draw with Motherwell but could return to the Staggies' midfield after recovering from a thigh strain.

Hamilton manager Alex Neil felt his re-introduction to the team paid dividends last weekend - but he will continue to sacrifice his own playing career to help his young players on the way in theirs.

Neil's first game for almost three months ended in a 2-1 victory over Dundee last Saturday.

It was only Accies' second win in eight games and Neil felt his experience helped. But the 33-year-old midfielder is happy to direct things from the dugout in order to give his young team more opportunities.

The former Barnsley player said: "I think we maybe lacked bit of experience, obviously with Jon Routledge out suspended as well there was a gap there which I felt we needed to plug.

"I have not played for three months although I have played the odd game for the under-20s. Physically I could only last about 80 minutes but I felt good and enjoyed the game and the most pleasing thing was that we managed to get the win."

Neil admits finding the balance between coaching and playing is not simple.

"It's difficult, especially being at a club like Hamilton where the one thing we want to do is promote our youth as much as we can and get them game time and kick them on and hopefully give them good careers in the game," he said.

"But there's a balance to be struck in terms of making sure the team has enough experience in it and also that you're winning matches. Because there is no point putting kids in if you are not going to win any games.

"It was a big game for us and I just felt we needed extra experience and a bit of bite as well and it managed to work. Hopefully we will go to Ross County and put a similar performance in."

Jon Routledge is suspended against Ross County while Jesus Garcia Tena is doubtful after limping out of a reserve game against Hibernian.
