Roma Boss Rudi Garcia Remains Defiant Over Job

Rudi Garcia insists he remains the right man to lead Roma despite overseeing back-to-back defeats.

The Giallorossi were humbled 6-1 by Barcelona on Tuesday and now face the possibility of an early exit from the Champions League.

A subsequent meeting with Atalanta in Serie A offered a shot at redemption but Roma were instead beaten 2-0 in their own Stadio Olimpico thanks to goals from Alejandro Gomez and German Denis.

French coach Garcia was given the board's backing heading into the weekend and maintains his belief that the capital club can turn things around under his watch.

He told asroma.it: "It's been a bad week, but the team have also demonstrated that they have the quality to recover from this run.

"I will not give up, I am a fighter. I am disappointed and angry. but we will need anger to get out of this slump. I'm right behind my players.

"I will take responsibility, that's not a problem. I'll stand in front of my players and speak up so they don't have to. What they need to do now is to get back to work.

"I'm sure the sky is blue behind these dark clouds."

Sunday's defeat leaves Roma three points off the top of the table but they could be cut further adrift should leaders Inter Milan beat Napoli at the Stadio San Paolo on Monday night.
