Real Madrid's star man Ronaldo may be sold by Perez

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is now thought to be considering selling star man and three time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo.

Perez has changed his mind about the man he praised as the “best in the world” as recently as December, a player who has struggled for form since the turn of the year and was banned for 2 games after being sent off for punching and kicking out in the La Liga clash at Cordoba.

Ronaldo angered many as he strolled off the pitch, taking time to gesture to the badge on his shirt for Madrid winning the Club World Cup in December. The gesture brought jeers from the Nuevo Arcangel crowd.

Perez’s mind seems to have been altered after the humiliating 4-0 defeat at the hands of fierce local rivals Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderón Stadium last weekend. Several times in the game Ronaldo stopped dribbling with the ball as soon as he was touched, waiting a for a free kick, which never came. Each time giving Atletico possession.

Ronaldo showed a complete lack of desire and fighting spirit and ended up looking a fool. If that was not bad enough for Real fans and the President, he celebrated his 30th birthday with a lavish party just hours after his team’s biggest loss in almost five years.

Perez is believed to be willing to cash in on his prized asset, which could entice Manchester United into negotiations for David de Gea. He is known for ruthlessly changing the squad behind Ancelotti's back. Two years ago, he sold Mesut Ozil to fund the record move for Gareth Bale, and last year he sacrificed a rejuvenated Angel Di Maria in order to bring James Rodriguez to the Bernabeu.

Real were crowned Club world Champions in December along with a record 23 game winning streak, but since the winter break they have lost 3 times already. This has coincided with Ronaldo’s drop in form.

For many selling one of the best players to have graced our beautiful game would be an impossible thought. But for Real Madrid things are different. They have always had star players, Galacticos as the Spanish say, Zidane, Beckham, Di Stefano, Puskas, Kopa, Figo, Gento and the Brazilian Ronaldo. The list is endless.

Maybe Ronaldo has grown too big headed, he believes Ancelotti won’t drop him. He thinks he’s the main man and at present he is. But no one man is bigger than the mighty Real Madrid, they will have the next Ballon d’Or winner and maybe the next. So selling Cristiano Ronaldo is very much a possibility.
